Very relaxing

We have stayed at Captain's walk at least 10 times and been very happy until this trip. The drapes were ripped, toilet kept running, kitchen cupboards were damp and warped, there was only one pot to cook pasta in and it was so old and dirty that I could not use it. There was only one wine glass in the entire condo and the furniture was dirty. The balcony chairs were so filthy we never sat down on the balcony the entire week. The microwave was broken and they didn't replace it until Tuesday evening. We were not able to cook the meals that we had planned the first part of the week because we needed the microwave. In general the grounds didn't look as nice as they have in the past. The location is the best part of Captains Walk.

We enjoyed being in Hilton Head but the condo needs a major face lift. the furniture was very worn out, the bath tub in the master bath could not be used for a tub because there was no plug plus the button to change the water from shower to tub did not work. The side of the refrigerator was all rusted. They also left half used bottles of soap from previous guests at the sink and there were 3 spider webs on the counter in the bathroom when we got there.

Very disappointed with the inside of the unit. The carpet was filthy and fabric on some furniture was ripped. Overall the unit was dated and shabby. The view was beautiful.

If you just came in and looked out front window, it was fine beautiful view. The rental was very old, furniture dirty, the place really needs updating and a deep cleaning. The location of condo was great, Would like to have agency check out properties better.

Ocean view was excellent but there is no view of the pool area as there is in many units at Captain's Walk.
The unit is VERY dated! Old furniture, old carpet, a 12" TV in the master with a VCR! Seating is uncomfortable due to its age. There are many other nicer units at Captain's Walk at the same price point.

Location was fabulous right next to the beach with beachfront view! Decor was a little outdated but overall the room was great. Great water pressure, never ran out of hot water. Quick communication with staff to resolve keypad issue.

Thank you for your review! We recently changed a little bit of the decor here (bedspreads, shower curtains, decorative photos, etc.) and are working on some plans for updating this Fall/Winter. We hope to see you again next year!

We just returned from a 7-day stay at this condo. The resort has security, and vehicles require a pass to enter the area. Plenty of free parking available, much of it shaded. We felt safe, and even walked out on the beach later in the evenings without concern.
Unit 481 is approx. 1,300 sq. feet. It is a top (5th) floor, oceanfront unit offering 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and full-sized washer and dryer. The patio is oceanfront, accessible via sliding glass doors from both the master bedroom and the living room.
This unit is clean and quiet, has new carpeting in the master bed/closet/dressing area, and has granite countertops in the kitchen. The master bedroom faces the beachfront, and has a comfortable king mattress. The living room sofa also is a pull-out bed.
Other reviewers have commented that this unit is in need of renovation, which we agree with. Captains Walk was built in 1980, and this unit's kitchen, bathrooms, and furniture seem that dated, albeit in good working order. The curtains in the master bedroom are ripped in places and the backing is dry rotted; the owners should immediately replace those. There is a small 26" flatscreen TV with cable and DVD player in the living room, and a 12" TV in the bedroom (that one we never switched on).
We have rented many vacation condos through VRBO and now FlipKey. In comparison to those rentals, we were disappointed in the limited consumables provided: a couple of rolls of toilet paper, no tissues, 2 packs of dishwasher soap, 1 laundry soap pack, 2 small (hotel/1 night sized) hand soaps, no kitchen spices, no beach towels or beach chairs - you need to provide everything yourself, which is a disappointment. So off to the grocery store on our first morning to buy every essential.
While we did enjoy a relaxing stay and would rent again in Captain's Walk, we would look to rent a different condo (based on rental cost) that's been updated.

Wonderful, the view was fantastic. Short walk to the beach. Never even turned the TV on. Definitely stay again!

Sea Turtle Getaways had our gate pass and correct key lock pre-mailed.
Other HH companies have had problems with this

We had a terrific week at Captains Walk 481. The staff at Sea Turtles was awesome. The unit was in a prime location with great views and the walk to the beach was short. Close to many local amentities. The unit was clean and well-maintained and no problems occurred throughout our stay. We were very pleased.

Very nice condo. Very clean and comfortable. Beds were very comfortable. Has to have the best ocean view of any complex on the island.

GREAT VIEW. GREAT LOCATION. GREAT BALCONY. Loved the high chairs that let you see over railing while sitting down. Beachfront and pool were never crowded.
Overall, the unit was in much better condition than described by previous reviewers. New furniture in master bedroom and new carpet in bedrooms gave it a new feel. Yes, Bathrooms are dated and could use complete redo, but were very clean. Unit was kept very clean--floors clean, unit smells clean, but the sofas and chairs in the living room are worn out and weathered and should be replaced. Appliances were clean and in good working order, Kitchen was well stocked with utensils, dishes, etc.
This was out 1st stay and this unit and our 2nd at Captain's Walk. It is a dated complex throughout, and I'm sure some units are more updated than this. But you just can't beat the location. Not busy at all, Shelter Cove is 5 min by car, 10 min by bike. We will continue to stay at Captain's Walk for Future visits. Thanks Sea Turtle Getaways for making our visit great once again.

The Captain's Walk Property is a perfect location. It was a quiet and had a private feeling. The villa itself was very spacious, well equipped and had a beautiful view from the balcony. It could use some updates and general upkeep. The curtains had tears, rust around the lights, old carpet in the bedrooms, outdated wallpaper and 1small flat screen tv in the living room and 1 small tv/VHS combo in the master bedroom. The washer and dryer was very convenient. The keyless entry was a great amenity.

Sea Turtle Getaways was a great company to work with. We were very satisfied with our rental experience. The condo was very nice but needs some updating. Very small tv in the living room and the 12 inch tv in the bedroom must be 30 years old. Drapes in the master bedroom are dry rotted. Clothes washer takes 15 minutes to fill with water for wash and again for rinse so it takes a long time to complete a load of clothes.

I want to let you know, this unit is FILTHY!!! Especially with COVID, I intended to clean before we used anything. I did call when we got into the unit, Sat. Oct 2nd. The air vents are disgusting. I asked that the filter be changed & ducts cleaned out. You did send a service man, he had to come back with the correct filter. He was supposed to come back with a shop vac to clean the vents - never did. I scrubbed both tubs, I don't think they had been cleaned in months!! The all the carpets, including the area rugs, in this unit need to be replaced - it is disgustingly filthy!!! I dropped something in the kitchen one day & wiped it up, the paper towel was black!! I don't think the tile has been scrubbed in months - maybe years!! You can run a sweeper to pick up dust & crumbs but you have to CLEAN the floors!!
I always bring flat sheets with us to put on the furniture, I try to keep the places we rent as clean as possible as I would my own home. I hope other renters do the same as the furniture needs a deep cleaning also.
There is a difference to upgrading a unit or cleaning a unit. We could live without it upgrading but not this filth. I can tell you, if this would be the last unit in Captains Walk, we would go elsewhere & we have been staying at Captains Walk for years. I hope this is not an example of all the units you rent!! Your cleaning staff needs an education in cleaning!

The view was beautiful. There are many updates needing done . Such as carpets in bedroom badly stained old furniture and faded throw pillows on bed . The captains walk complex outdoors is a great location , the grounds are beautiful and beach is great .
- Charla H. from Mount pleasant, Posted: 09/27/2021
Great location on Beach. Unit was clean but no dawn for dishes, only one powder for dish washer for last day, only 2 small bars of soap. I quickly ran out to grocery and spent $15 to fix this so it was only a minor inconvenience.

Captains Walk is a perfect place to stay while vacationing on the oceanfront of Hilton Head Island. We have been coming down to HHI for about 8 years and have found working with Sea Turtle Getaways and staying at Palmetto Dunes exceptional. This is a great place to use as a "homebase" while exploring the beautiful low-country.
- Anonymous from Galion, Posted: 09/30/2019
If you want a great view and location this is the place. Located right behind the dunes and convenient to everything. The furnishings are a little dated and the tvs small so if you came to spend time in your room, you might want to go elsewhere. The grills are charcoal not gas as advertised.

We had a wonderful stay. The location is the best and the pool and grounds are great.
481 could use some updating,it was however, very comfortable.
- Anonymous from CARY, Posted: 10/10/2018
Hilton Head is always wonderful and the weather this March was unusually nice.
Our unit in Captain's Walk had a spectacular view but is badly in need of updating. There were no wine glasses or juice glasses and no teaspoons. There were, however, thirteen spatulas! The tv screens were small and the couches were extremely uncomfortable. Needs a good refurbishing.
- Anonymous from Canaan, Posted: 03/29/2016
The unit was not cleaned very well. The pictures of the unit do not properly reflect the true condition of the furnishings. Definitely needs some updating.

The condo is very clean. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils. The view is beautiful. We enjoyed our vacation.

View is amazing - patio time alone was worth the visit. Walk out to beautiful beach, nice pool. Easy access location, everything was a 2 minute drive away, and several amenities were walkable. Plenty of parking. Unit was clean, but felt quite dated. TV is laughably small - its basically an old computer monitor.
- Anonymous from Dunwoody, Posted: 11/28/2018
Even though my wife and I watch very little TV, The TV in the living room only worked 1 evening. The Drains in the tubs, were dirty, and kinda molde. Everything else was Super.

This condo was awesome. The location is perfect, being ocean front with a pool.

Condo was in the best location with great oceanfront views and short walk to the beach. The condo was spacious with a private balcony. My family was able to relax and can't wait to return. We will definitely rent this condo again.
- Alice S. from Jonesboro, Posted: 03/27/2020
The view was amazing.
The villa was clean and comfortable.
The furnishings were dated.
There could have been some blankets on beds--instead of just quilts.
- Anonymous from Dix Hills, Posted: 05/24/2017
We were very happy with the location. The property was clean and quiet. On arrival there was big pieces of broken glass left in the condo which was dangerous, but I called and someone removed it. Overall it was a easy rental process and we were happy
- elizabeth m. from Huntington, Posted: 07/15/2024
We knew the property was very dated but chose to stay because of the ocean front view which is incredible. The Sea Turtles management team is consistently wonderful. We requested a cleaning of the porch which was done well and quickly. Receiving the arrival packet in advance is very efficient for arrival. The furniture, though dated, had comfortable beds.

It is great going thru Sea Turtles.
Have been renting with them for years and staying in Palmeto Dunes. Captains Walk
- Jodie T. from Galion, Posted: 09/11/2024
This rental was perfect for two people who needed to get away. Our priority was a ocean view. And we got it! Gorgeous. The rental staff were as sweet Nd helpful as they could be. The walk to the beach wasn’t too bad for ocean front.
The condo needs a few updates. The couch cushions sink very low and is difficult to get out of. A new couch would be priority #1. The sliding glass doors were difficult especially into the living room. The screen doors were barely able to slide. This may just be a maintenance issue.
- Rose F. from Cullowhee, Posted: 10/05/2020
We love the view from this unit. It is so beautiful! We always hate when it is time to leave!

We love the view from this place!! We saw moon rises and sun rises. You can see the ocean from the living room and master bedroom perfectly!! It is so pretty!! It had everything we needed to have a perfect vacation, all just a few steps from the beach! We can’t wait to come back!
- Carrie W. from Dallas, Posted: 11/28/2024
We enjoyed our stay and the unit was fine. However, th rental unit not entirely clean when we arrived. Porch area not clean at all and tile floors inside had sand on them. TVs were as small as our laptops. Need at least one descent size TV. Everything else was fine. I particularly loved the porch chairs which were high enough to look over the railing at the ocean.
The location is great... not to busy like Coligny and not to isolated like Port Royal. Palmetto Dunes is practically in the center of the island coast which makes it easy to get to everything: restaurants, bars, groceries, and entertainment.
The Palmetto Dunes Tennis resort was a disappointment. Being an avid tennis player, this use to be the place to go. Now it is all about Pickle ball. So I went to Van de Meer at the Shipyard instead which about three miles away. They are still focused on tennis and had great clinics for advanced players.
And of course our stay always includes a visit to Harbor Town and South Beach. The park and ride with the trolley is the best way to visit these areas since parking is a premium. We visited the Shelter Cove restaurants which were also nice.
We will certainly be back for our annual visit next year.

When you first step through the front door your eyes are immediately drawn to the ocean view from the windows that run the width of the room. Fantastic. The same view from the bedroom only larger. The patio was perfect for watching the sunrise and the surf. The kitchen was very well equipped and the furniture was very comfortable. The downside was the carpet needs to be removed and the upholstery cleaned. Still it was a great place to stay.
