Take Highway 278 West to I-95 South to I-16 West, which leads directly to downtown Savannah & River Street.

Horse-drawn carriage rides are offered in the Historic District that allow you to see the beautiful historic homes situated on the waterfront of this 500 year old city. The Historic District can also be enjoyed on foot.
Beaufort is home to Pat Conroy, best known for his literary works including The Prince of Tides, Lords of Discipline, The Water is Wide, Beach Music and his most recent novel South of the Broad. Additional attractions include shopping, dining, the Waterfront Park, Hunting Island State Park & Parris Island.
Take 278 West off the island and turn right onto Highway 170 to Highway 21 East. Follow the signs to the Historic District where you will find ample public parking. You can reach Beaufort easily in less than 1 hour by car.
